But for reasons other than Ross, RASPBERRY DANISH MURDER was not the best book in this series.
We should have had happy moments between Ross and Hannah mixed in with the baking and sleuthing. Of course, Hannah solves the mystery. Does. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Unfortunately, in my opinion the writing flow, especially the dialogue in this book is still too sub par to rate a higher rating.

Rushing off to a restaurant to catch a killer instead of rushing off to the church to marry her intended. Was Ross involved in something dangerous? It refers to Norman as an amateur magician (it was never Norman, it was Herb) and states that movie director Dean Lawrence is currently living abroad, when he was actually the murder victim in Cherry Cheesecake Murder.
Anyway, this book is best read after reading the others in the series. I thought, overall, it was a good read!
Take that away and the book would be a good 60% shorter. I reviewed Wedding Cake Murder, and my disappointment with that book was deep but not overwhelming. If you are an voracious reader and a food gourmet then here’s the perfect solution for you ,a book which indulges you in both the activities. The entire town is sympathetic and protective of Hannah. Who thinks the series has diverged from the original? [ Interestingly, the “murder” doesn’t take place until 80% of the way through the book, which was different. He leaves behind some weird things that make it seem like he planned to leave. Well, you know, with murder. Like Hannah Swensen, Joanne Fluke grew up in a small town in rural Minnesota where her neighbors were friendly, the winters were fierce, and the biggest scandal was the spotting of unidentified male undergarments on a young widow's clothesline. It’s part of why I vow I will not marry again, ever. Raspberry Danish Murder by Joanne Fluke 3 stars. Alesworth, is killed after eating poisoned candy that was left on Ross' desk, Lake Eden police start to investigate to find out if Ross might have been the intended victim, Hannah and her crew, of course, decide to also investigate. Hannah, who can’t let a dead body pass her by, doesn’t even consider investigating what happened to her husband. The dialogue remains stiff, stilted and forced.
I know this is a cozy, but this was beyond ridiculous.
I haven't read all of the books in this series. It seems someone on team Joanne may be listening to us readers because this book has the first iteration of Hannah calling Delores Mom and Mommy instead of Mother. Remember her?
However, curiosity got the best of me. He disappeared without a trace, leaving no explanation. So we he is murdered towards the end of the book there are numerous suspects. And that’s how banana Cream Pie left me, feeling angry, drained, cheated and confused. Which is why Ross sneaks back into town in the early hours of the morning demanding something from Hannah – something she might not be able to give him. Chocolate Cream Pie Murder by Joanne Fluke 3 stars. Hannah's reaction was adolescent at best. For an avid Hannah-maniac, this was truly disappointing. This book was literally 90% people eating or talking about what they're going to eat, or what they just ate, or how to cook the recipe that appears on the next page. Hannah tells him she put it back in his account so if he wants it so badly he can go and get it. It felt weird and just off to me. If I was handing out stars, it would get one, for the fantastic recipes.
Now I can go back and read the rest of the series. This series jumped the shark awhile back and I just haven't been able to cut the cord though I was seriously going to stop after the last book and the surprise ending. They have gotten progressively worse with each one. Ross had been away on a trip, and as they pull into the parking lot of the condo, Hannah notices Ross’s car is home.
I love reading all these delicious recipes! Yawn, ho hum. But Ross is a jerk and comes to see Hannah to get the money he had left . (Overnight is fine too, but then don’t forget to shut off the oven!) I was just angry. Ross is out of the cabin right now, and Hannah is thinking that it’s nice to have him away for a few minutes.
Five films for the Hallmark Movie Channel, collectively called “Murder, She Baked”, are based on the Hannah Swensen Mystery series. Scrape down the sides of your mixing bowl and give your Irish Potato Cookie dough a final stir with a wooden spoon by hand. After all, this genre is renowned for being very accessible, and how could a book with the words 'raspberry' and 'Danish' in the title be anything but? Yippee, happy day that would have been.
In the book even Delores is surprised and blurts our that Hannah hasn’t called her Mom or Mommy for years and she actually THANKS Hannah for calling her Mommy. The series seems to have turned away from mystery and become a ridiculous soap opera, and the continuity (or lack of) leaves a lot to be desired. Thus Ross has started to call Hannah, insisting she get him his money and give him the key.....OR ELSE. How exciting to catch up in Hannah's life especially after the new about Ross! Obviously, if she loved either of them enough, she wouldn’t be stumbling over making a decision. The kindle edition jumbled the recipe ingredients so I am on the waiting list at the library to be able to write them down. If you have, it's okay to continue... I’ll open with saying that I don’t think this book was as bad as the last few in the series. I do enjoy trying some of the cookie recipes but I am baffled as to why the dialogue continues to be so stilted--when there are only two people in the room and they constantly refer to each other by first names? [ Ross, who she just married, has been discovered. I discovered the Hannah Swensen series, by Joanne fluke, a few years ago.
The main story ends with Hannah realizing that Ross took only the condo key, and so he must be coming home to her. I’m finally done with this series. Hannah is on her honeymoon.
He doesn’t put her down, and he doesn’t try to stop her from doing whatever she wants to do. I cannot even with these books any more. Food and murder mysteries together make an amazingly exceptional combination. What? Mike is a jerk and Norman is too gooey.
Oh, and Ross is nowhere to be found. Also, Hannah’s younger sister, Michelle, was staying in town for a while, instead of finishing her college semester. The book should have had some added element with Hannah being married. Yes - this is the book that all of Hannah Swenson's fans have been asking for - almost!
When Mike waited in Hannah's apartment while she showered then her Mother called. That was then, Wedding Cake Murder. Start by marking “Chocolate Cream Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen #24)” as Want to Read: Error rating book. Hannah and Ross come home from their cruise and Hannah begins to solve the mystery, while running her bakery and starting her new life with Ross. Who is betting that the victim is Ross??? Is this why Ross disappeared?
While the books are mysteries, they also contain a fair amount of comedy and romance as well. I have been such a fan of the Hannah Swensen Mysteries. Ross is a good guy. She has told the town of Lake Eden in an effort to curb gossip, and all of her friends are with her.
So the last thing she wants is to see or hear from him again. Form balls of cookie dough 1 inch in diameter with your impeccably clean hands. The story follows Hannah trying to find out where Ross is while also investigating what happened to P.K. We’d love your help.
